TESTIMONIALS
Nxstage:
“It’s nice to be able to dialyze when I want to dialyze…It seems good to be able to do it that way rather than travel an hour and a half to the nearest
dialysis center. It is nice to be on the machine for two and half hours instead of four. It's also nice to be able to have the comforts of home while on the
machine. I am very blessed to have the Nxstage equipment to keep me alive. I am also blessed to have all the great staff Dialysis at Home Inc. and Nxstage to
help when I need it.”
— Mike Gardiner
“Nxstage has given me the opportunity to dialyze when I want and were I want. I feel better; have more energy and my lab values have improved. Nxstage has
given me my life back, freedom to travel and more time with my family and friends. My wife feels that she and the family are now part of my care, they are no
longer outsiders.”
— Richard Johnson
Staff Assist:
“If I was in the clinic I would have to be transferred via an ambulance three times a week. This would be very difficult for me physically. With Dialysis at
Home I can stay in the comfort of my home, I am cared for by the wonderful staff at DAH. I am certain that without DAH I would not be here today.”

NEWS FROM DIALYSIS AT HOME
Tuesday April 20, 2004,
New healthcare company provides dialysis treatment in the home setting
Dialysis At Home, Inc. – a new and expanding Boston-based healthcare company – is providing independence, quality of life, and better clinical outcomes
to people with end-stage renal disease. For patients who qualify and who have appropriate insurance resources (or for those who can self-pay), Dialysis At Home,
Inc. offers high-quality home dialysis therapies, expert clinical care, and equipment and supply management.
“Our mission is to help people who are managing chronic kidney disease meet their personal and health goals,” says Carole Egan R.N., of Dialysis At Home.
“Dialysis At Home encourages patients and their families to participate in the care planning process. We want to foster independence in patients, and we want
them to feel comfortable with their care. When a patient participates in their care planning, they have more control over their care process and quality of
life.”
Home Dialysis is not a new therapy. In fact, it was one of the earliest modalities of therapy made available to patients. Home dialysis was started in Boston,
Seattle and London in the early 1960s as a way to provide cost-effective dialysis to a greater number of patients. At the time, there was little or no insurance
coverage for the cost of dialysis therapy in the hospital. Home dialysis became a cost-effective alternative for patients, one that required the commitment of
the patient as well as a “partner” who trained with the patient to perform dialysis in the home.
“In general, even though home dialysis may provide better clinical outcomes for patients, it has not always been encouraged, due to barriers like the lack of a
‘home partner’ to assist with the clinical treatment, ” Ms. Egan says. “Dialysis At Home will provide a home partner for the patient, resulting in a more
consistent care and treatment process. Less variation in the caregivers provides continuity of care.”
“Dialysis At Home is here for those patients who want better clinical outcomes and an improved quality of life,” Ms. Egan continues. “Our Care Management Team
will work with the patient’s insurance company to find whatever resources may be available to provide clinical assistance in the home. Today, many people have
Long Term Care Insurance. This type of policy often provides a daily allowance for private home health services. Patients can also self-pay for clinical
caregiver assistance.”
